Welcome to the EYFS at Sandford!
Intent – Laying Foundations for Future Success
At Sandford, we are dedicated to delivering excellence in the early years, setting the stage for future success. Recognising the unique qualities of our EYFS students as intelligent, resourceful, competent, and creative young learners, we provide opportunities and experiences that foster a sense of safety and security. Our approach promotes play, discovery, and exploration as key vehicles for learning.
Implementation - Guiding Principles and Areas of Learning
Our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) programme is designed to respond to each child’s level of development, interests, curiosities, exploration, and discovery. In a safe and stimulating environment, students build trust and gain confidence while engaging in playful learning experiences. Our intentional environments support symbolic exploration, expression, and the development of characteristics of effective learning.
Knowledgeable, supportive, and caring teaching staff deliver a broad and balanced curriculum, aligning with the four guiding principles of the EYFS. Our curriculum planning, delivery, and assessment reflect the seven areas of learning and development.
Impact – Readiness for the Next Phase
Our goal is to nurture confident and competent students who are well-prepared for the next phase in their learning and development. Ongoing assessment, documented through the Tapestry platform, provides parents with insight into their child’s learning journey. Together, we work towards achieving the Early Learning Goals for all our students. Upon completion of the EYFS programme, we anticipate that our students will possess the knowledge, understanding, and skills needed for a successful transition into Year 1 and beyond.
